I've divided this section into years because I think it's easier to see the evolution of my imagery and the recurring trends rather than lumping all of them into one section. An artist's art evolves as a living thing growing from a simple germ of an idea to a full body of work years later. In these early pages you can see some of the elements I use in my current work. Elements may emerge that seem different but for me they are part of these earlier images and still part of the whole of my imagery.

My paintings have been described as looking like a printmaker painted them. The surfaces have been 'worked' as one would work an intaglio plate. I sand the surface, use clay and tile tools to form areas of graphic tension. Screen and stencils, stamps and various marking tools are employed however very rarely do I use a brush preferring to use my fingers to move the paint. I draw into the images and excavate colors from previous layers. The surface is scraped and gouged, textures are built up and then ripped through to reveal a surface that I could arrive at in no other way.

Please note I've been updating my entire website so some things may not be quite right. There's a lot of pages so check back or let me know which area is in need of some adjustment.
